Now what?!! its ticking!!!! HELP!

Can anyone identify this part for me? I noticed it ticking (possibly pulsating) rapidly last night. Does it supposed to do that?

I must apologize now. I've been here for 2 weeks and have had many stupid questions (typical noob!) I've taken alot more info than I can contribute. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!!!

i have the same noise on mine. I was debating getting it fixed. what is that part?

I have an aftermarket warranty, but there's a $250 deductible, so if it's not important, i'll leave it be..

thoughts?

thanks!

I'm not sure what it is or its purpose but I understand it's normal..... so use that 250 towards a mod!

normal

It's an emissions component that is working normal. It will make more noise as it gets warmer but is absolutely normal to tick. My is quite all winter but starts becoming audible about now when weather warms.

I think there is a difference between "normal" and "not harmful".

I do not think it is normal for these MOT sensors to be ticking like a bomb. Sometimes I can hear mine from inside the car! Im pretty sure these cars didnt tick like this when they came off the showroom floor. Mine ticks like mad right now, but I think its a relatively cheap and easy fix...I think the part is about $60, but havent gone to the dealer yet to swap them out. I would bet if you replace it the ticking would almost completely go away... until of course the sensor gets old again...

Anyone have any experience replacing this sensor?
