Thinking of painting engine cover... help!

Oaky well G2 is selling a kit for engine painting, like their calipar paint kit... well my car is completely black, and i wanted something that sticks out and give the engine some custom looks... so i was thinking of painting the black part of the cover red, and leaving the middle strip gray. do you think that would look good, or should i just paint the gray to red in the middle, and leave it black? thanks! please give me your thoughts!

How about filling the silver strip in red, and coloring the Mercedes letters in Black... like the Brabus look.

Wouldnt that be hard getting the letters black? id probably need an exacto knife and a whole day for just the letters, looks hard, i was thinking to just paint the middle part all black with red letters and the sides red. would that look good?

But how would painting "the middle part all black with red letters" be any easier than the way the brabus cover looks???

im just saying, do you think it would be hard, and if i took that approach, i would probably do it all red with black middle and red letters.

i don't suppose it will be too hard... just make sure you clean it well before you start, and try using one of those sponge-like brushes for the letters... it might be easier.

Also, i don't know about you, but my hood makes contact with the part of the engine cover.... well, its the insulation, not the actual hood.

but in any case, the contact is obvious, and it seems to rub it a little, so it may eventually rub off part of the cover you paint.

If you really want a custom look, do it in carbon fiber. If there is enough owners with the same interest, my source can make the engine covers for reasonable price. If you have a CLK500, I think the same cover will fit the E500 and other 5.0L MB engines (S500, G500, ML500). I'll do the research for you guys if you're interested. I'm only doing this as a hobby and to help my source.

See if you can get the CF work done in Silver or Red. That would look pretty sweet

Paint the middle part red and sand down the letters afterwards, so the letters will be black.

Do you mean you only want the middle part done in CF (silver or red)? It may be doablle, but it will be some sort of a lay over and I'm not sure how easy it would be to still show the Mercedes Benz letters. It would be easier to do the whole engine cover.
