Help. Seat that wont move?
Hi my passanger seat on my yr 2000 clk 200 kompressor wont move when its tilted to let passangers in the back. It will move when the buttons are pushed. Any ideas where to start? Is it activated at the lever at the shoulder or down at the hing?

The seats have a memory function and it must be reset in order for the seat to move forward automatically.
Move the seat forward with the buttons as far as it will go and then hold the same seat button in the forward position for at least 5-10 seconds.
Then move the seat all the way back using the buttons and once again hold the seat button backwards for at least 5-10 seconds.
You should be able to now lift the seat handle, tilt the seat and the seat should move forward on its own.
I hope I got the method down right but if not then try going backwards then forward...this will work. hope it helps.

Thanks Greg
It started to work but the seat motor has started to smoke so I think there is a bit more to it. I will have to have an investigation.
Any one have an idea's does one motor run the whole thing?
Its only the forward and back movement that is not working or causing the smoke.

If the fore/aft power seat motor fails, the part number is MBN 208 820 08 42. Last time I looked, about $130 from the dealer, and it takes an hour for a slow moving novice like myself. But I'm easily distracted.

EDIT: I just called MB of San Antonio and they want 175 so that is definitely better than the 250 MB of Austin wanted!! I will be getting one soon to replace my passenger seat.

There are actually 3 motors in every seat, 1 to move fore and aft (front and back), 1 to recline the seat, and 1 to move the headrest up and down. The most common one to go out is the for and aft. My drivers seat needs this fore and aft motor as well but the local dealer wanted 250 just for the motor and did not include labor because I wanted to do it myself. I will have to call around now because if it is 130 then I will buy it quickly. Good luck with yours!

They've got it for one hundred and five dollars plus shipping. Just hit the link, click parts, enter the part number, and check their pricing. The shipping on my last order, O2 sensors, was only $13 - much less than Cali sales tax.

I called MB San Antonio and asked them to match the 105 but they said they could at least match the 140 MSRP price. I need a new seat motor now so I am on my way! You saved me 35 bucks man!!

Hey guys, so the driver's seat isn't moving forward/aft...
but after reading this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...pair-info.html
I'm not sure if it is the motor or the seat control ECU.
What's the best way to tell which one is at fault, so I can buy the correct part?
