CLK 430
1999 Clk 430 Sunroof problems

I have a 99 clk 430 and i am having sunroof issues. I have read some posts on how to resolve the issue but none of the suggestions i have read are working. However, one post said to reset the sunroof by pulling the fuse, but for some reason i can not find the mapping for which fuse it is. Does anyone know the location of the sunroof fuse and if this method with work?

Issue- sunroof is almost closing but stopping short of the guard. i have tried pushing in the rails but that didnt work. Also, it appears the sunroof button is not operating like it should. if i press it up it goes forward. if i press the button forward it does nothing.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I posted a fix for this some time ago (although I searched and can't find it). The fix is to simply pull the wind deflector rearward into the closed position, and slip a small piece of rubber hose in to jamb the deflector so that it is permanently closed. You want a piece of hose that's big enough not to come lose later, but small enough not to be hit by the sunroof when it closes. Naturally, you don't want the rubber hose to fall into the nether world between the inner and out roof and be unable to get it out. I planned to use fishing line on mine, but never got around to it.

The wind deflector is mainly there to prevent noise and/or wind buffeting. With the deflector down, my car is quiet at 80 MPH (about as fast as I go with the sunroof open), so I don't see as I need it.

If this is somewhat confusing, let me know and I'll take a picture.

Had the same problem. Need to reset the moon roof mechanism. Why a $50K car in 99 engineered this, I do not know. Turn car off, put key in position 2, press roof button to pop up the back and hold a secs until you hear a click indicating it's been reset.

It's in the manual if you have questions.

I reset my switch constantly. One of the many electrical gremlins these cars have.
