I've done searches but have't found how to replace the antenna base of the fender mount, I can feel the unit inside the trunk but can not see it to figure out how to remove base!,

I guess its vipclk320 to the rescue again. ok do the following:
1. open te trunk
2. on the left side carpet you will see a round plastic knob, gently pull on it till it comes out
3. after the knob was removed the side wall carpet can be pulled forward, pull it forward.
4. look inside there in the rear quarter area and you will see a aluminum color box with a hex screw in the middle of it.
5. grab a long screw driver with a hex tip(not sure what size, just try different ones) and loosen up that screw.
5. the screw wont fall out so dont worru once loose just pull that box down
6. pull the antenna up and out of the fender.
7. replace the new one and do everything in reverse order.
Attn: its very easy to acces the screw on the box, if you notice there is a little knutch on the aluminum bracket that is infront of it that allows the screw driver with the hex head to easily access it.
I own a hard top but dont ask me how i know. lol hope this helped.

Didn't know there was....
a substitute for the mast. A shorter one would be better...can you point me to one somewhere, or a thread?
Thanks for the help.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has successfully replaced the tall stock CLK convertible radio antenna with a shorter stubby one? If so could you share your replacement antennas info? Thanks a lot in advance!
