it's only connects to the wind deflector. You still need the ACTUAL wind deflector installed to use it.

Like the others said, you connect it to the ridge on the front of the wind deflector to maximize the effectiveness of the wind blocking. That way, it prevents wind vortexing under the blind that goes from the deflector to the rear seats.
