dont drive the car you will also get fault codes in your ECU which you will have to go and get cleared up. and your fan goes in overdrive, same thing happens if you start the car without the A/C controls or better known as climate control.

One more point for ya Mike... (I cant say for all clusters but I cant think of any this wouldnt apply)... Without the Battery warning light, your car wont charge. This also applys even if the light is there but the bulb is burnt out.

Dont know who mike went with, but I just had ours done at BBA reman. Just go through their E-bay auction (its listed as a E-class). It was $115 with free shipping. You can choose faster shipping too. They did an awesome job and comes with a lifetime warranty afterwards

Also had BBA do mine...excellent work. One thing that they told me after the repair...install it but do not start car. Turn key to position 2 and wait 15 minutes for the computer to relearn the cluster. It worked fine.

I did my own, it was very easy to do and cost me about $5. but yiu have to have the stomach to take it apart.
Cindy the 15 minutes is not necessary. just for future refrences, the 15 minutes is for new key replacement. The cluster simply grabs the data from the ECU and is just a display for it. the only thing that the cluster stores is the milage. hope that helped.

I don't remember which board now but there's good detailed pics in the DIY section showing exactly how to fix it and it looks pretty easy. It's a couple hours of time and about $5. However if you screw it up then it's a new one from Benz and it ain't cheap so if you've never done close detailed work on a circuit board before it's best to send it out.
