Unless I'm mistaken, cruise control was standard on all US spec CLKs. Is your car a non-US spec model?

Guys I have had many Mercs and the variations between the models is endless. So many variations its just pot luck on what you get. Basically if you go with the Class as the guide it goes like this:

Sport model = Basic, usually clotyh interior and standard electrics
Classic = A little more electrics but still basic
Elegance = A lot more toys and extras
Avantguarde = Fully loaded ususally all the toys.

Even on the same models for example the seat variations can be no electrics, or elec on one side, or full elec no heated seats or all elec and heated seats etc etc...

NO cruise control on a 2000 Mercedes? That doesn't seem right, and cloth seats? I have never seen a Merc with cloth seats. I know your car doesn't have the cloth, but my 98 has the cruise control, you would figure that would be STANDARD on all models!

What you're saying is true for ROW cars. In the US, certain levels of equipment are considered "standard". For example, cloth interiors are unavailable on US spec Mercedes-Benz cars. As are manual windows and/or door locks. According to the 2001 and 2002 model year US press kits, all CLKs had cruise control. I don't know where my 2000 press kit is, but I'd be pretty surprised to see cruise control listed as an option. Here is a list of the 2002 US spec CLK equipment list.

Are your's a manual? Cruise control was only available on automatics, but pretty easy to retrofit, did mine a few months ago
