clk 320 turbo
Hey there clk benz community. As i have noticed it seems this engine is for granny cruisers with virtually no performance parts above the 300hp area. i can be mistaken. i like the torquey engine. Few questions someone may be able able to answer here, just to have a better picture of this engine. How strong are they in stock form as to make them custom turbo with programing and exhaust, etc. and how much can be taken out of them in Hp? and can they take it? Has anybody done it? custom made, no expensive kits? I know its like how $$$$ fast you want to go. but there may be some ideas out there.
thanks.
thanks.

Your first post is the 320 "is for granny cruisers with virtually no performance parts above the 300hp area"? Some of the 320 faithful may feel slighted. Especially considering this month's magazine article from MB Owners UK shows the CLK 230K has a top speed of 143 MPH.
At any rate, there is a guy on this forum, VIPCLK320, he started off with a CLK320. We’re waiting for the dyno results, but early estimates are over 350 HP / 375+ lb-ft of torque for the engine itself, we’ll see what it puts down at the wheels. BTW, his '320' has been 'slightly modded'. I think it got the "+230 treatment". There is another guy, Williams707, with a CLK320. His car has outrun 300+ HP V8s. Mercedes-Benz built a 350 HP version of the 320. It too is boosted, so if you can build a custom turbo and install a programmable ECU (or modify the existing one) 300+ HP should be possible. You may want to consider picking up a 32K engine. Another guy on one of the forums has a 32K engine in a CLK.
Inexpensive? I'll let someone else handle that part.

I agree with MarcusF, which is why I didn't respond. Also if you had done your research you would have found multiple ways to get a v6 320 to 300hp+. You would have also found the answer to your question which is
NO to Turbo
YES to SuperCharger
Kleemann M112 SuperCharger System Mercedes CLK320 V6 W208 98-02 which shows gains of 113 HP and 97 lbs/ft Torque.
You are mistaken, my car is most definitely not a "Granny Cruiser"
MarcusF you forgot about Tery 320 which he races.

If I remember reading the topics correctly, there isn't any room for a Turbo. So one member and his 430 did a rear turbo mount a few years ago and had issues, but to this day know one knows if he got those issues corrected.

Pretty ridiculous to call the M112 a granny cruiser; what were you expecting with 215bhp? Should have gone the 430 or 55 route rather than dump a bunch of money to do the turbo (and yes, it'll have to be rear mounted). A better option like other people mentioned is to get a blown M112 or just upgrade to the M113.

99CLK320,
despite the fact that this thread is over a year old I would encourage you to go to http://www.kleemann.dk/Contact/DealersUSAM if you have the $. Pretty pricy IMHO.

Ash's CLK is when a guy takes his 320 engine, his 320 transmission, his 320 brakes, driveshaft, 2.0 ME electronics, gauge cluster, TCU, ECU and everything else used to make car accelerate and decelerate, and removes and replaces them with CLK55 parts.
Ash's 550 is more than just 320 plus 230, so it's the +230 treatment.

A bit more. In addition to the complete drivetrain, he took an ME 2.0 car and converted it to 2.8. Ash's car is the most complete upgrade I've ever seen. I don't tout myself as an upgrades expert (although I have written for a number of magazines and own a magazine), but Ash's car is special. Look up the thread on his car. It's spectacular.

Oh man!
I have to revive this thread because it's too awesome to die! It has some of my favorite people, flexing some great humor (I'm still laughing) and most importantly: I've been wondering if there's anything I can do to get my car up to 300-ish hp w/o boosting it, or throwing a ton of money into it. I already have a 22psi Audi - that I just broke - again............ and let's not forget the divorce that took the house and everything else along with it.
Are there any ideas that I can't think of? Maybe one of those spinny-wheels that you put into your intake piping? LMAO!
Thanks guys!! Great thread.

'05 CLK320 1st Mod
Yea I definitely like this thread. Before I can even consider any sorta go-faster-in-my-granny-cruiser mods I can say i've made some magic happen with this "totally official bluetooth upgrade". Though unfortunately i noticed some bubbling at the beginning of the rear quarter panels the other day = ( Also, i got some rain in the drivers door when the window was down and it's been seemingly stuck in there for like a year randomly leaving grime on the window.... baffling me
