This subject has been covered thoroughly in other threads. A quick search in the 208 section regarding the fore/aft seat motor will reveal a wealth of knowledge. Hope this helps.

Plus it a long winded pain, Be patient work moderately and remember that it goes back together much faster.
Results are worth it as tiny tim or shack can ride along.

I assume that you have checked the trunk fuses and done the "tap the motor w/hammer while pressing switches" trick already.
The long motor threads will give you guidance if the above don't work.

i have tried the tapping on the motor, fuses are not the problem as i can here the motor getting power. i was hoping there was a trick, magic lever or button. with the seat all the way back and not being able to even raise the seat bottom it is a pain to get to any bolts to even take the seat apart to get to the motor so i can slide the seat forward. thanks

It reads like something is in the track gears, a failed motor is similar.
The positioning circuits often keep the motor from running, seat back lift/tilt engages the motor as well.
as a last resort and save all the pain, unplug the fore/aft motor and apply voltage externally. The seat controller under the seat interfaces with the door controller as well adding more studying.
I lost power to the right side door control and the seat failed. (now fixed)

clk w208 seat change picture

picture of recaro seats, i bought the seat mounts from carid. they do not fit correctly and need work it fit. the rear seat bolts do not fit. i had to bend the tabs to fit the bolts. also i had to put spacers under the rear outside bolt so the side of the seat would stop rubbing the door panels. not happy with there mounts. it does save a lot of weight. the stock amg seats weigh about 70 pounds each. the new seats weigh about 10 pounds

They do look a bit wide near the top. But it's a cool upgrade nonetheless. Beautiful car by the way! Thanks for sharing.

My passenger seat can move up and down but the actual seat that you sit on will not move back and forward. does this have its own fuse or motor

Yes, it has its own fuse and motor. When the fuse starts to fail regularly, that usually means the motor is bad.

Its a common, inexpensive 20 AMP fuse. #6, or 7, or 8 on the left or 8, or 9, or 17 on the right.

If it turns out to be the motor, and it's going to be at some point, the part number is 208 820 08 42. The MSRP is $170 from the dealer, internet MB dealers sell them for $130, and the smart money contacts AutohausAZ who can get just about anything for less than you'll find at a dealer.

...fuses above are in the trunk.

Change the motor while it still works and you can adjust to remove the seat. If motor fails, it's not an easy fix!

You know, I think I forgot to mention that.

When someone lifts the lever to climb in the back and the seat moves all the way forward, AND THEN THE MOTOR GOES OUT – IN THE ALL THE WAY FORWARD POSITION, yeah, that’s not pretty. More like “world class ugly” - just ask the OP. And people on the forum occasionally are not sympathetic. They post stuff like, "So when you replaced the seat motor fuse a dozen times, you didn't think that was an indication that something was not functioning properly? And now, with the seat practically sitting in the glove box, and smoke coming from the contraption, NOW you find the motor is hard to get to?" The guy with the busted seat motor is in no mood for humor, the unsympathetic replies get worse, and eventually the mod locks the thread.

Let me just cut to the chase and say "in before the lock"

Great info as usual! Is the part number the same regardless if it's driver or passenger seat?

Thanks
