topcat76,

Your car came equipped from the factory with a Group 49 battery, which provided 900 Cold Cranking Amps / 100AH

If you are replacing the battery in your car, you need to replace it with the same size battery for multiple reasons.

If you live in a place where the winters get cold, a smaller, less powerful battery may not be able to provide enough power to start the car.

Car batteries come in different sizes, and the engineers at Mercedes-Benz designed your car to use a Group 49 battery. A smaller batter may not fit properly in the batter tray, thus not being able to be secured properly. If your battery is not secured to the chassis, in even of a collision, the battery can become a projectile, creating a potential hazard.

For safety, as well as avoiding a battery without enough power to start the car in the winter, replace your old battery with a battery of the proper size and power rating.
