1999 CLK320 AC Leak

Hey Gang,
First time post here...
Re charged AC system the other day, onboard code read 15 bar in system, was blowing cold for 10-15 mins....Then after about 40 mins or so, went back to car and EC light was back on, monitor now reading 7 bar, must be a pretty good leak...

Where do these AC systems usually leak?
Where can I get dye to put into the system to check for this obvious leak?

Felt really cold for those 10-15 mins though, thought I had it solved, but I will find the problem...

Thanks for any ideas!

The most popular place for any system to develop a leak is in the condensor. It's right out front for all the rocks and road debris to damage it. If you have neglected motor mounts, the rocking of the engine could cause a hose to develop a leak, but as you alluded, dye will usually identify the culprit.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any auto supply places in Jersey. Autozone and Pep Boys carry Freon with UV dye. Amazon too. I hope that helps

with that fast of a leak you should be able to find an oil slick at the location of the leak. Look at the condenser and the high pressure lines going from teh compressor to the drier (behind the left headlight) as well as the high pressure line from the drier to the firewall.
