Key wont turn in ignition

Key wont turn in ignition
Hopefully someone can help.
I have a 2001 clk 200 komp cabrio and suddenly the key will not turn in the ignition. The key fob does still open the doors though. I read similar posts and it seems the entire ignition system meeds to be replaced. As we all know this can be very expencive from a MB dealer. I looked through ebay here in Germany, which is excellent for second hand parts, and I found a few promising solutions. My question is do I have to replace the door locks also?
