gas spills out of filler neck when I remove gas cap

Hey guys, Sometimes when I go to fill up, I pull into the gas station and when I remove the gas cap, gas shoots out of the filler neck.

The CEL is not lit, but checking codes reveals a evap system leak (small leak). I can't remember the exact code off the top of my head.
Any thoughts as to what this can be? Seems like the code may be related to the gas spilling when I remove the cap.

Sounds like the tank isn't venting properly. Are you able to fill the tank without the gas nozzle repeatedly clicking like its full (when its not)?

Yes, the tank will fill at full speed without spillage or any issues, hot/cold/doesn't matter. I don't have a gas smell in the garage either.

Any thoughts?
