Voltage check for regulator and ripple check for alternator diodes. You could research what the conditions are that turn the light on???

There are no brushes on the regulator. Being an inexpensive normal wear part, you may want to consider replacing it and seeing if that corrects the issue.

I believe the voltage regulator comes with the alternator replacement, it's part of or attached to the alternator.

Alternator output was tested on the car or on the bench? Alternator could be fine but if you have a problem with the trigger circuit, output would be impacted. Have checked and cleaned your cables and connections?

Alternator can be controled by BCM (Battery/Body control module), SAM (Front or Rear) and or ECU.

On my 2012 it is a LIN controled alternator which is controled by both the rear SAM and the ECU.

Post your vehicle information (Model, year, and VIN) and I will check what makes up the system on that vehicle...
