CPS

Replacing the CPS is plug and play (e.g. no engine management sync required).
However, sometimes but not always, a failing CPS will throw a CEL. If you live in a place were emmission/safely inspections are required, if the CEL is on, you will fail the emissions test.
If it threw a CEL, after replacement and 3 cold starts, the CEL will turn off. Alternatively, the CEL can immediately be cleared with an OBDII hand scanner, as well.
Additionally, there are a dozen or so emission related sensors that must show as 'ready'. If a couple of the sensors indicate 'not ready' (e.g. the ones that caused the CEL), you will also fail inspection. After a component is repaired, it typically takes 250 - 300 miles of driving, for the sensors to reset from 'not ready' to 'ready'.
Long story, short.......after replacing the CPS, just turn on your CLK and enjoy (e.g. unless you're soon due for an emissions inspection).

My CLK320 Cab just died at Jimmy Johns in the damn drive thru.. nice. While I waited for a tow I googled my problem, 35 Bucks later (thanks Amazon) a new Bosch CPS fixed my toy. Love this site for the wealth of info...
