DO NOT use Mobile 1 for the rear Diff. You need to use MBZ Synthetic Transmission Fluid....or at least that what THEY WANT YOU TO BELIEVE...

I use Valvoline MaxLife ATF...meets specs and is WAAAYYYYY cheaper. I pick it up for $15 Canadian Dollars for a gallon at my local WalMart. Works like a charm. I have done 2 transmission fluid changes already and no issues.

This is what I was afraid of. One person says to use a certain oil and someone else is like DON'T YOU DARE USE THAT OIL! Is there anyone who is certain about which oil I can use. I would like to use the Mobile 1 but it does have the GLS specifications, only LS. I would really love to use AMS-oil. Anyone else have any advice?

The WIS says, rear axle standard differential SAE Grade 85W-90, 90
and 85W-90 for limited split differential.

Here is some good info from the WIS (2006). Apparently synthetic was used after 4.11.2001. See below.
Not to confuse, but Germans use Day/Month/Year, Americans use Month/Day/Year.
Not sure which format the WIS is using.
Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to use non Mercedes gear oil.

Edit: I see a date down there of 18.01.04 so it must be D/M/Y.

Yes, Mobil 1
Works great, but buy the mb oil if it worries you. The pain of doubt lasts longer than the sting from the cost of the oil.

Is anyone using the Omnifit 100H when doing the rear diff? If not, what are you replacing it with, if anything?

The Omnifit 100H is a thread sealant specified by MB for the drain plug, not the oil that goes in the diff. marko69 shows it from the last screen shot attachment he posed on 12-23-2014.

Ah, sorry,,

Yeah, this "Omnifit 100H" is normal threadlocker with medium strength,

usually used with soft/fine thread like this oil drain with (1-pitch),,

but you can use any good threadlocker with medium viscosity strength..
