To buy or not to buy...
For months on end I have been searching for a project Benz. I was searching on eBay and I found a 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK320 with 216,000 miles. The exterior looks to be in great shape but the interior has seen better days. The bid on the car is up to $910 and it is near where I live. The Mercedes runs but the transmission is slipping. What should I do? Should I bid on it? Would this car be a good project? I did find a transmission that is within driving distance from me for $575. Pictures are included.

depends on what you plan to do with the project. Personally I would run because its the v6, and it has the dated ecu so swapping a v8 will be nearly impossible.
It's ultimately up to you but plan on dumping thousands into it for not that much of a gain. Also, there will be no resale value.

All CLK engines were not upgraded to ME 2.8 engine management, as well as additional transmission upgrades, until model year 2001.

I would pass on that. I feel like w208's are so depreciated you're better off buying a good one. The parts and repairs are what get time consuming and expensive.

NO, it's V6, has a bad tranny, it's rough, and has a ton of miles. You will spend way too much money on it and never get it back, you will be disappointed you don't have the features, styling, and power of the 430 or 55. I've seen pretty good condition 430s that just need a little cosmetics under $5k from time to time.
