Thinking of selling my CLK55

I have an 02 CLK55 120K miles or so. Always garaged no winters very well maintained by me personally. Recent Plugs wires all fluids including transmission and filter. Flushed according to forum DIY. Newer tires and so on. Still a very nice car. Has the original wheels and later model AMG 18 inch wheels as shown. What do you guys think???

Unfortunately, it's hard to find a buyer for these that understands book values mean nothing on an extremely well kept example, and books say they're worth not much. Same boat I'll be in within a few months. I hate to sell it, I know the price I get will break my heart, but don't have need or room to keep it when I buy a new car.

Amen!

Mechanically, the W208 has proven to be very reliable.

The few issues I've encountered have been with the electrics (e.g. MAF, CPS, broken wire in the truck lid wiring harness), which were all inexpensive DIY repairs.

Did I also mention the timeless MB styling and a head turner?

Today, I have difficulty differentiating a MB from an Asian import.

Unfortunately, sad but true, the value of a 14+ year old MB is only 5 - 10% of its original MSRP.

The reason is that everyone knows how expensive it is to maintain and/or repair a MB.

At 90K miles and 14 years, I was thinking end of life was near and began considering a replacement. Coincidentally I received an offer to test drive a Lexus, upon which I would receive a $75 VISA gift card.

In summary, I was insulted....not that my trade in value of a 2001 Cabriolet in pristine condition was a low balled at $4,000 (e.g. straight to the auction), but that my 2001 CLK320 still out performed and was more fun to drive than the Lexus 2016 IS cabriolet I test drove.

Only reason I could justify upgrading was that the Lexus had a couple of wiz-bang electrical features (e.g. I-Pod dock, back up camera).

Many of the electrical problems have had to do with the 722.6 transmission (e.g. which mechanically is bullet proof) but with with preventible maintenance, pertaining to the electrics, are all preventable.

Although I live in a snow belt, North of Boston, no rust.

From the above, decided to keep my W208.

These models are surprisingly easy to work on. If you DIY the labor, then repair costs are minimal. Parts are very cheap since they cross-over from the E-class which is basically a taxi cab all over Europe. I am glad to say that in 4 years of ownership, I have only spent maybe $1500-2000 in maintenance on this car. Other than all the tires of course It was very well kept and owned by a mechanic before I got it though.

Experienced mechanics will rape you on labor when they see the 3-pointed star pulling in. I don't know why because they are very simple, they have the same basic parts as any Chevy. If you have electrical computer issues, then you're screwed though. Mine has been very dependable.
