320 CLK missing badly

My car started missing badly-lost power on my way home on the freeway and I took to a shop that had done good work before. They said my leaky valve covers had ruined my spark plug wires. I took it home and replaced valve cover gaskets and wires and plugs and still runs as if it plugs are bad, or nor sparks in all cylinders. What next anybody, I hate to take it to another shop and get a wrong diagnostic again

Did you run a code scan? I would suspect a bad coil pack for a sudden misfire

Hmm, would leaky valve covers really ruin plug leads anyway?

Unless you have a car where the plug holes can fill up with oil then I can't see why the garage would have suggested the valve covers as a culprit

What do others think?

Fixed

After it was all done it was a wire connection at the coil pack and I was misled by two shops that couldn't figure it out. A five minute fix cost me 600.00

Glad you found the source, why this wasn't found by shops is one of the reasons to be able to investigate yourself (forums can help, before you visit ant shop. A scanner would show the misfire on the cylinder which would could be coil, wire, plug, or cylinder. Troubleshooting can be time consuming, but finding the source and fixing it yourself is very satisfying.

did you have to use electrical tape or just push in the plug some?

Tape could be used on an exposed wire.

Some type of Silicon sealer can be applied to loose connectors on the outer casing.

If the connector is rotten from oil or heat it should be replaced
