CLK 320 front carpet removal

Hello all,
I have a 2000 CLK320 and I am having an issue with water in the floor pan (driver side). I am trying to figure out if I can remove the front carpet without taking the seat, etc, out. It looks to be held in my maybe the gas pedal mount and the interior panel trim? Could anyone perhaps help me with this. Some images would be a plus. I am having a time finding the cause of the leak and the thick padding is SOAKED. Thanks in advance

Have you checked around the fuse panel box under the hood on the driver side. I had to remove it once to look for a short and I noticed when I put it back together it didn't sit flush and left a straight shot to my interior. Also you might find something by the pulling off the driver side fender cover/liner thing.

The root of the problem needs fixing first.

Hard tops with sunroof might have a failed water drain tube. It was notorious on other Benz sunroof models. W124 noted. With age the tubing shrinks and water seeps in through the exit.

Other water issues are AC condensate drain tube clogging or rotting. It needs to be replaced or cleaned out.

If you remove the kick panel and peel the carpet back, a body drain might be evident. Remove it until the leak is resolved.

Best, Gator

Well I thought my leak was solved with my driver side floor pan leak but NOT. I can leave my carpet out for days and it stay dry as can be and put the carpet in and the padding is wet every single time. I even ran the car through a hi pressure auto wash with it out and no water. I put the carpet back in thinkin "cool, no more wet floorboard". Boy was I wrong, the first rain and bam its wet. I am stumped beyond words. I have about had it with this car.
