Leaking convertible top fixed
Top was leaking mostly in the back seats and the sides of the front seats. Very bad during heavy rain.
Thought is was just the rubber seals wearing out at the windows. Did some experimenting with a garden
hose and couldn't find where the water was getting in. Used some honda silicone stuff on the rubber window
seals but that didn't help. Bought a new canvas top with window for $629. Without the window it would
have been $439 but I didn't want to mess with transferring the old window to the new top.
Installed it and no more leaks. Did a little experimenting with the old top and sure enough, it was leaking.
With a pool of water on the top of the canvas, it was leaking right where the zipper flaps are attached.
New top with the installed window.
New top installed.
Experiment
You can see it leaking on the bottom.
It was leaking right on the white line where the edge of the zipper flap used to be. (I pulled the flap up, it was just glued on there.)
At the right angle and light, you can see where the white line shows up on the topside of the canvas.
Didn't have to transfer the window, but did have to transfer the window frame.
The all important must have item came with the new top. The right size zipper head.
