replacing dead instrument cluster

Is it possible to have a replaced instrument cluster(recycled) reprogrammed for the original car?

Yes----You need to replace the IC with the exact, repeat exact part number IC form a junker or you will be back whining---Oh what do I do, I think I just got screwed!!

Then if concerned you will need mileage correction!!

Instrument cluster swap

Plutoe, thanks for the quick reply. Are you saying the correct part swap will
eliminate the "wrong Part Mwssage" I am warned about?.. Is there a way to reprogram the cluster to the original VIN as I've been told? Not concerned about mileage readings.

The correct part number will solve that "Wrong Part Message"problem.

Regarding the potential drive authorization issue, I don't know if the VIN is stored in your specific model IC,however if it is, you first have to virginize the EEPROM, then place your VIN and mileage in----that process is not a DIY and there are loads of hackers that have the chip read\write tools and bin files to do the work.

If it's not stored, then all you have to do is mileage correction(if desired),but overall you need DAS Xentry.

Great news!!

Plutoe, Many thanks again. I got an exact part # replacement dash cluster and installed. Totally operational, just with mileage of donor car. No big deal. Dash hasn't worked like this since 2002.

Started losing pixels in 2002. Gauges worked until 3-4 weeks ago. Now all back to normal
