New DVD Navigation System in my CLK

Here it is boys & girls... My new DVD Navigation system.

Eclipse AVN2454
- CD/DVD/MP3/DVD Nav/etc...

Some basic pics of the Double-DIN setup... its got a few of my dirty fingerprints on there & the trim piece is only a temporary one until I can get one custom made...

The system is very fast & quite accurate... 5.5 seconds to map from LA to NY... 2-3sec to reroute

8V Preamp output
50Watt built in amp
6.5" Touch screen
Its a much more sophisticated system over the OE COMAND system

Looks great Danny! I LOVE how it sits right in the double din slot - once you get the trim piece made it will be absolutely perfect. As much as I love OEM fit and finish, I have to say

yeah... i didn't jump into getting a trim piece because I was gonna pull the ash tray out and make 1 large piece...

then, I'll make a cutout for my ipod/ipod mini... & the V1 display unt...

Yeah, the picure quality is great...& the 8V output will have real clean sound... not many other companies are still making 8V output..

I've never quite been the fan of flip monitors... so the Double-DIN layout here is perfect for me... and the Nav DVD slot is built in.. nothing else need to buy...

Steering wheel controls will always be a compromise when moving to an aftermarket system...

I hear there is a module that Kenwood made that still allows u to use the steering wheel contols with their units...

It looks very good. Just the fact that it's a double-DIN and not a flip out makes it look more OEM. Also, I like that it is touch screen so there is less need for buttons, which allows it to have a bigger screen.

Would this setup work with the OE CD changer?

Nice job, once again.

nah... there isn't anything on the market that can utilize our fiber optic cd changers...

at the least, the Eclipse head unit has a built in MP3 decoder, so, 1 MP3 cd (~135 songs) is about equivilant to 6-7 regular CDs.... so, no real need for a changer...

plus, once I plug in the ipod, a changer would definitely not be necessary...

.............very nice. I am glad someone else has done this to their MB. I did this to my 300CE a year ago and posted pics. This system is made by ROsen AKA Necvox and is now sold under different names including Audiovox and eclipse. It is a very nice system. You do loose steering wheel controls, but in my case my 300CE nevr had steering wheel controls so it was not a concern. The double DIN set up was a big problem in my 300CE and I had to use custom made dash kit. For the CLK, no such drastic measures are needed.PICS OF MINE

............further, at the time I did mine, the NAV unit was under development so I used the pioneer and integrated it together, The NAV unit is now available. Debating whether to switch to it.
