Clk and e series shifter interchangeable?

Clk and e series shifter interchangeable?
Picking up a 2001 clk430. The sunroof was left open it rained now it wont start (had same problem with my 99 e320) got a shifter from a 2001 e430 and fixed it. I ended up junking the 99 but saved a few parts including the shifter, was wondering if it would work in the clk430?
