Thanks Daveskee for posting the shots for me. The back tires are 9.5". I know for most of us this is a work in progress and I have quite alot that I would like to do. I had given up my W208CLK55 a few years back and always kicked myself. When I came across this car a month ago, I had to grab it. It only had 3,000 miles and was owned by a collector- stored in ac garage- is showroom. Out of all of the vehicles I have owned, and there have been many, this has been my favortie by far as a blank canvas to individualize. Among the coming mods are blacking out the centers of my rims- and thanks to the advice on this forum I am having them powdercoated as well as the brake calipers. Some brembos are on the adjenda as well but only after getting to the engine- so in the meantime the brakes will be powdercoated as well. When I have the wheels and brakes powdercoated I am adding the full Lorinser DTM kit minus the front 1/4 panels. Does anyone know what a reasonable price for this kit is installed? I have had such a wide range of quotes installed. Any suggestons from this forum are MORE than welcomed and, again, I would like to thank everyone who has been so helpful in getting these tings done. By the end of the year, I will be very close to done. I read a post by Sleestack and I couldn't agree more- not saying that my vehicle will even come near the extent of his marvel- I really don't care how long I have this vehicle as it is such a timeless design. This will be my garage queen for many years to come. Eventually it will be exactly what I want- then again, maybe not!!!

No the front windshield is not tinted. ps Thanks for all of the nice comments. How have you been Ahmed? Long time no talk. Do you still have the "Purple Passion"? (CLK) Needless to say your signature tells me you are riding comfortably these days.

Thanks alot. I actually dropped the vehicle off to have the roof wing, side markers, and grill painted and when I picked it up, they hadn't done it. Their reply was that it would chip too soon- I told them to bead-blow the chrome off then paint it. IN other words, on its way, my man! I couldn't agree more. It will be black... Oh yes, it will be black. I am also having the CLK55, the star and the //AMG on the back (and the centers of the rims- color matched to body)being painted in flat black- so that you can only read it when you are near enough. After I put sound, wheels, and extra paint on my Yukon- my wife figured I was done. Here's my CLK's big brother...

ooops... forgot I couldn't post here- I could email them to someone if they could post them??? It is a burly looking truck.

Benzo,

I was thinking about black chroming my CLK430 emblem too instead of paint (peeling phobia again!) but haven't found anyone able to do it. I just put on my DTM bumper and it looks nice with the grill blacked out.

Check it out on my link

Wow that really does look good, Daveskee. Do you have any shots head on? It gives it such a wider stance head on. Well done...

btw Did you black out the mesh as well? I did see the front shot- fantastic.

I was going to wait a couple of months before adding the body moldings, brakes, engine mods, etc. I have put about 100 mi. on it and every time I get it back I say, "Just a couple more things." I am thinking of doing it all at once and being done with it. Money market rates are about 1.5%, right? Is there someone out there who has dealt with a shop like this anywhere in Florida? If so, I would like to go somewhere where I can knock it all out under one roof and that does ALOT of this work. I am more than willing to ship my car in the southeast but would strongly prefer to keep it in Florida.

You guys in Cali are lucky. You guys have alot of great places to take your vehicles. We don't have too many one stop shops- and the ones we do have are newer.

are you talking about the grill that is attached to the hood or the metal wire/mesh grill on the DTM bumper???

the one on the DTM bumper should be no problem to powdercoat... but the one on the hood is plastic, and powder coat needs to bake at 400 degrees.... how is that possible???

Sounds good! That was a great looking car- and I am sure the M5 is no slouch either. I have never driven one. I was actuallly thimking of buying my first sedan later this year- that E55 is truly calling me. We will see. I def. am not getting rid of my W208 this time.
