CLK 430 Spark Plugs

I know it's been discussed but there are new options everyday and I wanted to see what people on the forum were using nowadays...

I'm stuck between staying stock with the Bosch FR8DPP33+

or

BOSCH Plantinum 4+

or

NGK Iridium IX

Just looking to see what people are choosing recently.

Thanks in advance!

FWIW, just changed my factory plugs, after 16 years and 95,000 miles (e.g. was a real PITA, even on the smaller M112 engine).

After a fair amount of research, decided to use the updated version of the OE plugs.

Take a close look at any +4 plug and then Google "index sparkplug".

Sounds like I may be going with the OEM plug...dont want any misfire issues.

Marcus, looked up indexing but cant pinpoint the link you are trying to establish. Have there been issues with the platinums?

I have never replaced plugs on any car but at 200000km I figured what the hell since I have my valve covers off for gasket replacement and oil breather cover re-sealing I have good access and I'm thinking they have never been replaced.

You mean that thread from 2008 that you replied to that has 0 information as to the 3 plugs i'm comparing??? No....can't have any new info since 2008...

Try being helpful or kick rocks...its not like this forum sees a lot of action and my thread clogs up the community. Save you key strokes if you got nothing for me.

To all others,

Any reason to not go Platimum?

I also love how this was taken out of context...

When a plug is indexed, the opening is pointed at the valves. This is opposed to having the ground electrode sitting between the spark and the air fuel mixture (having the opening pointed away from the valves). A +4 plug has 4 ground electrodes and at least one is guaranteed to be in the way. The only engine design that I've ever seen where a +4 could be beneficial is in a rotary.

I'm sure they come up with new stuff everyday for your 14+ year old car.

Thanks Marcus! Appreciate the explanation. It makes sense. Looks like I will be staying away from Platinums.
