I have the SRS warning lamp on and I don't know why. Is there a way to just disable it completely? Or is there something I can reset to get it to go away?

Also, every so often I get that BAS/ASR failure but when I restart the car everything works fine. Is this caused by a sensor somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Brian,

Maybe it is the weather... ???

Nah, I had this very same problem last thursday.... When I just about got to work, by SRS light came on..

When I would come to a stop, the light would turn off, but as soon as I start to move again, it would come back on. Turned off the car, then back on, and the SRS stayed on permanently.

Took it to the dealer, and a few short hrs later, they called me back saying that the seat belt sensor somehow came loose. They retorqued it and the light went off.

So, if its under warranty, have your dealer do that/check that. If not, have a tech you trust take a look at the seat belt.

Danny, since you have such a great relationship with your S.A. can you find out what exactly they did and if this could be a DIY job?

Thanks so much.

I HAVE A QUESTION!!

is there any way I can reset the HVAC system on my car? My old AC compressor died so it permanently set the thing to "EC" mode only...installed a new one and it's still stuck on "EC" so it wont run the compressor. if you do a certain sequence before starting the car, though, it'll go back to normal and run the compressor and blow cold air...but this is annoying

Sorry guys, I did not get your posts in time, however, check out this website: www.startekinfo.com , it is great. You have to pay for a subscription, which I did, at $18.00 for a 24 hour use license. Check this site out definetely!!!! I had my coolant pump go bad, replaced the whole thing myself!!!

The part of the site called WIS-NET (requires a Java reader like the free one at Sun MicroSystems website) basically allows you to select the vehicle and gives step by step instructions on how to repair/take apart/fix anything you can think of. This is the software MB uses and independant shops subscribe to when they need to repair a MB they are not familiar with.

My dealer wanted $800' ish to replace the coolant pump, did it myself in four hours (most of which was spent gathering tools and finding ONE bolt I could not see). Had the front of the engine off and did the whole thing in my apartment's parking lot for $200! I also feel like a real man because of it, so this is what dirt on my hands feels like?!?!

BTW, the site also has sections with wiring diagrams, common problems, part ID section and an interface/decoder for ODBII codes and other Fault Codes. I just printed out everything I could ever imagine I would want/need to do to the car and now have step by step instructions from the people who built it!! Rear seat removal, rear headrest removal, motor mount, transmission fluid, spark plugs, power steering pump, alternator, potential souses of squeeks and rattles, rear diff change...... need I go on?????

Rick (PS- I am not a paid endorser, seriously, check it out)

probably need a new engine mount...my car was doing the same but most people on here said it was normal (probably what dealer told them). next time i took it to my guy for an oil change, he replaced it - the old one was torn up pretty badly.

I take it you never spoke with your advisor about this.
