You have a left-hand drive model. On obvious MB manufacturing mix-up!
Kidding aside. Are you talking about the rotary light switch which has a setting to keep only the left parking lights or the right-hand side parking lights - front & back - on for short parking periods. This is widely used in Europe, not in the US. Consult your manual re the switch settings, if that is the case.

The Light Defective sign shows only when I turn on the lights, it's the taillight in the rear when you turn the switch to the right and the smaller circle city light in the front, all on the left hand side.
