Same problem...

Hi, I'm in the UK so have right-hand drive CLK soft top which is letting in water in the passenger side footwell - does anyone know if the fix is the same - i.e. does it differ from driver to passenger side?

Thanks

It's not always just cleaning out the leaves.Sometimes the drain gets clogged in the tube and you have to fish a wire down to break the clog.

Could be clogged sunroof drains. This happened in my last car; I had to remove the headliner and blow them out. They were gunked up with leaves and debris. Water was dripping down the a-pillar into the passenger footwell.

Are there sunroof drains in the rear? I have located the 2 in the front but cant seem to see the rear. I am having an issue with water coming from somewhere and running to the front floorboard through the channel where the wire loom runs up to the firewall. Its been a nightmare. I cant find any diagrams or anything clear on this issue. I was thinking was originally the windscreen drains clogged and getting the driver floorboard wet but since leaving the carpet out in the front I saw it running from the rear today after a hard rain

Thanks

Sounds like it could be the drain plugs blocked on the rear of you sills. Take a look on the underside of the sill just in front of the rear wheels. There's some squarte plastic drain plugs that get easily blocked. Pull them off and see the gunk and water flow out. Give them a good clean and replace.

They become blocked, the sills fill up with water and then when they're full, the water overspills into the footwells.

Yeah, I looked and I don't see any kind of drain plugs. The only thing in my wheels wheels in front of the wheels is a plastic nut. Unless they are on the undercarriage of the car there aren't any. Just a solid plastic fender liner with a nut is all that's there. Looks like the nut holds the liner secured

Thanks

It's a square black plastic thing just in front of the rear wheel under the sill. Approximately where this guy's foot is on the photo.

If you haven't found it and unblocked it, that's where your problem is.

Its not there, I just saw a round drain plug about under where the seat is and one behind the seat in floorpan. No platstic pieces of any kind other than the ground effects. Must not be the same on my model

I've been trying to find a photo to show you but not successful yet. Does your car have the plastic side sill skirts on or just plain steel sills?

You would never believe that they are drain plugs at the rear of the sill as they just look like inch square black plastic fasteners. They are probably not as far up as where the guys foot is, but maybe half way between his foot and the end of the sill. They have a little slot in the middle and ping out with a screw driver in the slot.

They do have the skirts, I noticed a square plastic piece with a slot in the middle on the actual bottom of the sideskirt almost at the end of it near the rear wheel but it seemed to me like it was a fastener holding the ground effect in place? Looks like one just like it in the front as well. Its a 2000 clk 320

Yes - that's the one!!!!! It's a drain plug and if you remove it, you'll see all the gunk blocking it. Take it off, give it a good clean and pop it back on.

A smaller square piece in the middle of it pulls down (using the slot) to release the whole block from the sill.

Well, the one on the passenger side is gone and the driver side wasn't stopped up, I have noticed it seems to be possibly originating from under the seat somehow. I pulled the drain plug for the rear floorboard and the foam and all was dry but the plug under the seat the foam is wet. ive left carpet out through (2) heavy rains and the floor pan is dry but I suspect same as last time if I reinstall carpet the foa will be wet again after a little while somehow.

The W208 is mostly body drains under the ECU/Brake booster get clogged, AC drains.

and the Cabs leak by the window seams when the tension cables break or stretch.

Easy right?

Cheers, Gator

Any AC/Lines experts in here? please help
the water usually CV comes in from the cowl under the windsheild. It should be flat with the windsheild and if water gets behind it will leak in your car and potentially your fuse box under the hood

Cowl under windsheild

Makr sure it is tight and clicked in. If its sticking up at all or unclipped water will leak in everytime you wash it. This just happened to me on my 04 c32 I bought. It rained like hell and then I went to start the car and it wouldnt do anything not even click. All it would do is turn on the high speed fans which is not supposed to happen. Anyway water was leaking behind the cowl and windsheild and draining into my engine compartment and interior was wet. There was 1/2 inch of water M in the bottom of my fusebox. I took out the c ol computer (which luckily sits up higher in the box and didnt get wet!!) Dried it out in the sun with a fan and it works fine now but I fixed the cowl. A stupid peice of plastic under the windsheild almost totalled my car....

After I found my rear footwell full of water, I removed the entire passenger seat and everything else in the passenger side (carpet, computers, etc.). I found and cleaned/degreased all drains (both sunroof drains, both drains under the windshield and I even pulled the fender liners and flushed the body drains). I've replaced the blower motor and regulator and I let the car dry out for a month, yet somehow I'm still getting water in the front passenger well and the only thing that sticks out to me is that the fresh air door/flap will not close. I know the box is draining, but somehow water is still getting in and I'm out of ideas. I have no codes and there are no drivability issues. The A/C and heat blow fine. I'm completely stumped!

Can anyone help?

Thanks.
