is this the problem that causes the car, as one member put it, "to shake like a clampets truck"? if it is, yeah, i have the same problem, but still havent had time to take it in for service. My car only has 28,700 miles, mostly highway.

Maybe if you wait long enough it will go away.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but I shared in that same logic and it's still there.

I have had the same problem in my car. This caused by the high octane gasoline that you are filling your gas tank with. CLK is tuned for 95 octane and if you keep filling with something higher it causes overpressure in the engine and finally either bends or breaks the lifter. No it will not go away if you wait. It will only get worse and possibly break the engine. It has to be taken in for service. It is a very common problem for CLK models.

Yes, engine will shake like a mad monkey.

VERY IMPORTANT TO USE ONLY 95 OCTANE and dont use any performance enhancer fluids either

I only use 95 octane though. We don't have anything higher in my area. I've also owned 5 other benz and I haven't experienced an engine problem either.

What exactly are the symptoms of this problem? The only thing I notice is that the car shakes violently at idle.
