Instrument cluster removal

Instrument cluster removal

Does anyone know how to remove the factory instrument cluster out of an 05' clk500? I see slots on the bottom corners, special tool to stick in there to release it?

w209 instrument cluster

MB sells the tool its called instrument cluster removal tool. Its set of 2 pics with handles. All you do is stick in the holes and the end of the tool has a hook you turn 1/4 of a turn and pull together with both hands on both hooks.

+1 on these tools. Don't fool yourself into using home made wires. These tools are very well made and very strong.
One bit of advice, check with your local dealer or mail order Mercedes dealers. Good chance they'll be cheaper than Ebay.

thanks guys for the input but i cut up some metal hangers and it worked just fine...
