2005 E55 AMG; 2005 CLK 500 (sold)
Today I completed the ///AMG 55K Airbox install!
Installed:
* ///AMG 55K Airbox and Engine Cover
* BMC Air Filters
* Kevlar Intake Tubes
I noticed an improvement in throttle response and Highway Speed (Might also be due to New Air filters verses the old ones installed).
Thanks to all the MBworld members who's participated in this thread. Its because of their experience and feedback, I was able to complete this Mod.
Now the Pics (all of have been added to my profile album)!
///AMG 55K Airbox Installed

Heat wrap underneath the Airbox
Kevlar verses Plastic air intake ducts
Teaser pic for my next mod!

I never did a before/after dyno test, but the throttle response improvement was noticeable right away and I do feel more pull at highway speeds.
Hey Wes! I bought the Thermo Tec 13575 Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier from Summit Racing (their ebay store). It's really easy to work with and I'm happy with the results!

so what is the airbox cover from? It looks like a 55k cover.
Does anyone know if the CLK55 airbox work just as good? Does it have fins or is it just the same as my 500 airbox?
edit: did a search found out all I need to know

there goes my question! lol.. I actually thought that the air filter is the thing I see on top of the battery... there is a small filter on top of the battery cover...
does anybody care to tutor on how to replace the stock air filter?

oh an i figured out the sought after question i had. thought id like to share.
i was wondering if there was a center cover earlier. then i realized there is one. cuz on the e55amg. the engine is ****ing huge. lol so it protrudes outward in the middle.
btw. 2mchar are you selling your original 500 airbox?

I'm keeping my original 500 box for Smog Test purposes. The bigger box hides my headers (when I get them) and the little protruding hose on the left side of the 55K airbox (looks like it supposed to go to the supercharger; It's like I messed with the smog equipment). What I ended up doing is polishing the aluminum intake (real shiny ) and now it looks custom
Hey Wes,
Did you ever put on the tyreart on your tires? Any pics?
