Trust me: the DIY is +i+, as we used to say! If Keith will do it for you for $100 or so, and $ isn't a big deal, let him do it, but I took a lot of pride in doing it myself, and it was only 2+ hours because of an error on the instructions. If someone wanted me to do theirs, I'd probably do it for less than $100, cuz I enjoyed it. If you did that trunk computer install before, you're qualified!

Should come in handy for anyone contemplating this.

PaoliPete, I seem to have forgotten that I did eventually find those instructions as a webpage, so I don't have to email them to you, as we PM'ed! They're linked a couple of posts back, or Click HERE. And, as long as I'm at it, the Bluetooth compatible phones, for either puck are HERE, B67875878 puck instructions HERE, and B67876131 puck instructions HERE.

Is there any known update to the Star Bulletin?
Thanks for the comments!
I am researching the same topic, before attempting to perform the installation on my 07 CLK350. I opened up the trunk and located most of the wiring that is mentioned in the document, however there are some differences.
Example: For Item 3 (Figure 10) of the bulletin, I have 2 fibers going into the TEL Most connector and no extra fiber available. Figure 10 shows a bundle of 4..
Is there any known amendment or revision to that bulletin?

BT for CLK350 2008
This thread has been idle for a while so checking to see if info is still available. I have a 2008 CLK350 cabriolet and I want to hook up BT to it. Under the right corner where the radio is there is a telephone button. In the center console there is no puck present. Behind the cover where the puck should go (there is a cut out for it) there are 2 wires (one has a connector attached to it and the other looks like the fiber wire). I stopped at the local MB dealership and they ran the VIN # and the car is not prewired (said something about a 389 code I think). So what do I need to do here? Is keith still available? I don't have a problem doing this myself if I have the parts and instructions. Any info would be appreciated.

BT Installation in San Antonio Tx?
I just bought a CLK350 convertible and was told it was pre-wired, but that the actual BT installation by dealer would run about $1500. I can find the pucks online, but I'm a helpless female (seriously) and this is not something I would attemp on my own. I can't really tell for sure WHAT I need. My console has two cup holders, the little flip cap with the "i" and wrench in it, and does not appear to have enough room to install anything. How big is the puck? Is there any place in San Antonio Tx that can install this for me cheaper than MB?? I have all the buttons and controls on the steeering wheel and the phone keypad next to the radio, but have no idea what is next. I see all these posts to call the cellguy, but even if I did I doubt I'd understand what he was telling me to do. I'd really love to be able to use this feature....so much nicer than my BT earpiece, but if it's too hard or massively expensive I may have to just keep the existing low-tech way!

You get what you pay for; best $500-$600 I've spent on my car. When I see a MB driver with a cellphone to his/her head I think "dumb" or "cheap."

No pictures of the puck or anything that I can find, including in the book. Online I see picures of the puck itself, but nothing next to it to get any idea of it's size. Thanks for the info, I'll keep researching before I make the call. Have to get some more info on it so that I can talk intelligenly!

I used Keith Valentine (Cellguy) also here in CA. My car was just prewired and he hooked me up with the full package for around the 600.00 range, he was kinda enough to drive 80 miles to install it was done in about a hour or so and it works flawlessly.
I did end up buying the Viseeo MB-2 puck because of the one button hands free Voice recognition.

Google "bluetooth puck mercedes" and select images; you'll see both the puck(s) and the connector, which some are lucky enough to already have, meaning all you'd need is the puck itself. The newer model puck is a bit smaller and a few dollars more. If you need a whole kit, the cabriolet can be a bit cheaper, as you can Velcro the MHI/UHI in the trunk rather than bracket mount.

Kathy, there is an eBay seller (cellguy85) who has kits with the factory/OEM parts to add BT to your car. It will run around $700. It's a fairly easy DIY if you have skills in car electronics and trim removal. If not, you'd probably want to get help from someone qualified. Even if you go to an auto electronics shop, I'd say you can beat the dealer's by at least $500.

Info
All, I have an 03CLK500. It is all prewired with everytthing I think and I am trying to get Bluetooth wired in. In the console there are the two standard buttons and under them is what looks like a phone jack more like a cat five internet type jack. Does anyone know if there is something I can just plug into that to have bluetooth wired into the vehicle??
Thanks for the help

"prewired" usually just means your car has an extra $10 wiring harness. Look in the center console and see if you can find a small connector like this one below. If so, then all you need is the "puck" and those are around $150. If you don't have that, but you found a disconnected coax cable and an RJ45 connector, then all you have is that $10 wiring harness and you are about $700 away from the OEM Bluetooth interface.

More info on pre-wired phone needed
I have looked again inside the console on my car, and it doesn't look like any of the pictures I've seen online. Mine does not flip up; it has a sliding cover that opens to reveal a second cupholder and a somewhat deep and narrow slot; appears that if a cradle goes there, it would be vertical, not horizontal. There is a small, triangular-ish felt piece in the back of the console near the top but it does not come out so can't tell if there is wiring behind it, but I suspect there is. It looks like I would need an adapter AND the puck, but not sure how it would fit in such a small space?? I'm in Texas so Cellguy would not be able to install, as several have suggested, and I really am not into wiring and car repair. But still hoping it is pretty simple if I can be sure that what ever I buy will a)WORK, and b)be easy to install.

In the revised roller-blind style center cubby, the adapter goes on the back sloped wall. Yes, when the puck is installed, it takes up a large chunk of center console storage space.
There are a few other options, like the Grom kit. It only works on cars with the MOST bus (MY2005+). The thing I don't like about it is that it uses a bit of a "hacked" interface, relying on the CD changer track controls for the phone instead of the traditional phone buttons.
There is also a Viseeo kit, but it's designed for European models. I contacted that seller and he said it "might" work, but he recommends the Grom for US models.
I would be interested to hear if anyone has installed any of these aftermarket adapters and how they work.
