Thumbs down Don't drive like you stole stole it.

///Preemptive cool story bro...

On Cinco De Mayo, We were leaving a bar...
As I peeled out into a left turn this street divider JUMPED in front of my car. It wasn't more then 15ft away so I must have hit it at 20-30mph?

Blew out 2 tire and bent the suspension components on my rear right wheel. I ended up buying 4 new tires [Dunlap Direzza DZ101 $522 installed out the door]and paying out of pocket [~$800] as losing my good driver discount was more expensive then the repair. Had I lowered the car I'm sure woulda lost the grill. Tires werent a big deal as I need new ones anyways. The repair was the bummer.

The funny/scary part after the hit was the car lit up like a Christmas tree.
Roll bar engaged, dash was screaming SOS, and the poor car was trying to phone home on an non-existent analog network.

Lesson Learned: I'm to old to drive the car like a stupid teenager. and watch out for obstacles before conducting a burn-out test.

Observation - Didn't happen and the direct root cause.
Control - I had tons of that. I controlled the car right into and over the island.

had that happen to a friend a while back too. he was 17 at the time with a bmw 330ci or something like that. turning left, he managed to slip and lose control. luckily he didnt bust any components-not that i know of- but his left rear tire went up the curb and he bent his rim and f*cked up his side skirt.

glad your still safe tho bro!

on another note. i do that from time to time, trying to turn the corner, engaging esp. the one thing i fear is to lose control and spin out and hit something.

I find that after spending some time "out" I tend to disengage the ESP more often...

I actually was the designated driver. However, spirited driving of a sports car got too spirited. I don't think any of us get muscle cars to not display enthusiast usage of horse power.

My post is more a reminder of enjoy your rides and dumb things happen/self pwnage.

I had a brand new corvette in 85 (the first fast one) and it was dark bronze and perfect. So I'm leaving the house on a divided boulevard with tall square curbs. I saw a piece of white lint on the dash on the passenger side so I leaned over to get it and inadvertently pulled the wheel down and veered left (extremely responsive steering) and blew out two brand new $250 tires. I couldn't even afford the car, then I had to buy brand new tires. That was a chunk back then. Hell, my payment was only $425. I ratted myself out and everyone still laughs about it. Even my kid.
