Very nice........but this thread is for 209 CLKs only! I'm sure they will have a wheel thread over on SL forum too.

That's not really true......by definition see below all CLKs have coilovers from the factory. Whether they are adjustable or not is not what makes them coil overs.....its far more literal with just the coils being over/wrapped around the shocks rather than not (like my Grand Cherokee which has separate spring perches with shocks mounted at a different point). Some coilover kits are sold as fixed height....like these ones http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/fixed-heig...k1-p-1924.html yes, yes...I know...not Merc but they where the first ones that came up when I searched fixed height coil overs!!!

It could of course just be another case of "England and America are two countries separated by a common language" as George Bernard Shaw said and we just use different terminology!

Def;By definition, a "coilover" is short for "coil spring over shock". All this means is you have a coil spring literally sitting over your shock or strut. Other suspension systems such as leaf springs, keep the shock and spring separate.

I have 20x9 et25 245/30 and 20x10.5 et20 285/25. Will these clear my pss9s? I have yet to install the coilovers due to this being a problem.

Well that test fit ruined my hubs. That is how it would sit with stock suspension. After extensive research I figured out I would need 20mm spacers to make them fit lol. I would need probably a ridiculous amount of camber to make it work without a widebody.

Does anyone know the quality of the linked wheels and if they will fit without the use of spacers? They are for a CLS so was just curious.

Where can I buy replica 19" AMG multi-spoke (16 spoke) wheels? I love how they look on the CLK. I know that Nardo, Sweetsoupman, and Milkman all have or had them.

Wheel spacers and bolt HELP

I bought these AMG replica wheels that are:

Front - 18x8.5 ET 35 ___ 255/35/18
Rear - 18x9.5 ET 37 ___ 225/40/18

I have just about no clearance in the front from the strut (1mm>). The backs touch the liner just barley also.

I have already decided spacers are my only option. But what size? This is where I really need the help:

The OEM MB lug bolts have 3/4 inch of thread sticking out of the OEM wheels. Those same bolts have about 1.25 inches sticking out of the fAMG wheels. I wanted to get spacers big enough to give me clearance and to also allow me to use the OEM bolts.

I was thinking 12mm in the back, as the wheel bolt size matters a lot more in the back because of the parking brake, and 5 or 8mm in the front(?). How much room is there behind the front hub for a wheel bolt to go in?

On a side note, the ideal setup I had in mind for tires was 265/35/18 backs with 235/40/18 fronts. But I'll leave that for when I figure out the clearance issue on the skinnier tires first.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

You likely will not be able to use the original bolts regardless. They are ball and most aftermarkets wheels use conical.

Which bolts?

To check what type of bolt-seat I need is it as simple as putting both a cone and ball seat bolt into the new rim and see which one fits better? Is there a more legitimate way of checking which bolt-seat I need?

In case anyone was wondering. I ended up with 255/35/18 in the back with 225/40/18 in the front. 10mm H&R Trak+ spacers up front and 12mm hub centric (non H&R) spacers in the back. Front and back spacers are both hubcentric, however only the fronts are H&R brand. No issues except some steering wheel vibrations at speeds over 60mph. Vibrations were reduced significantly when I reinstalled the front wheels+spacers, aiming for perfection in mounting and perfect lug torquing.

1. Please do some homework before you post a question. Many of the answers are out there already.

Please tell me you posted this wrong. You should have a 35 rear and 40 front. Also if you didn't buy hubcentric wheel spacers then....... I have nothing more to say

I just got these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/112249512804?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Looking forward to putting them on my '05 CLK500.

Hopefully no troubles ahead.

Front rims are 18" x 8" ET 34
Rear Rims are 18" x 8.5 " ET 30

These are OEM AMG CLK63.

Currently they have Pilot Super Sports on them in 225/40/ZR18 and 255/35/ZR18 sizes.

I am hopeful that I won't have any issues putting these on my 2005 CLK. I have driven cars before where you had to gingerly drive to avoid the fenders slicing the sidewalls to shreds, no fun. (A true paper tiger, looks sexy, has to drive slow)

I expect that the stock ball studs will work, but won't know till I fire up the jack. Hopefully still right length.

I could not find anyone stating that they have done this exact swap before, but it shouldn't be a big deal. I found a C55 who did, same front anyway.

Once I have verified these are straight and true I will have the original AMG CLK500 rims for sale. Tailights too (just 27K on the car). Would love to do a package deal for local pickup in LA and save a bunch of storage space/shipping.

2008 18" CLK63 rims on 2005 CLK500

Hey, so initial fitment done.

Drove around block, no rubbing.

Will try freeway, etc soon.

Meanwhile, looks much better. There's a few 2015/2016 MBs in my garage. The size and style of rims are pretty much standard on newer MBs. (C250 Coupe and C300 sedan, FI)

So far so good.

Before and after both sides.

Anyone looking for original AMG rims for 2005 CLK500?

Just to sit Flush NOT to clear BBK ?
