All this weight saving info is very interesting.
Hey Nero, how much weight did you shave by removing the rear seats?
Do you have any pictures?
Also what's the comparo between OEM vs. VIS hood?
Same also for carperting? I highly doubt much was reduced by changing the carpets but I guess every gram counts for something.
After all the weight saving moods, how much did you shave off in total?

I am also not sure what the OEM hood weighs but the VIS hood weighs next to nothing. Whenever I raise it up I am always surprised how light it is because the shocks are way too strong for it. It may weigh 10, 15 lbs max? I would bet the stock hood is in the 25-40 lb range but I am just guessing.
Now for the carpeting, I think you would also be surprised as it saves a lot more than a few grams considering all the carpet in the car. I replaced the carpet on the NSX too and the OEM was far heavier and that was just a two seater. Again just guessing but I think it would save at least 20-25 lbs when compared to the OEM carpet which is thick and has a thick foam backer too (for sound insulation). If it only saved a few grams then I doubt anyone would go for it considering the expense of replacing all the carpet in the interior.
I think after all the weight savings, at least 200 lbs came off the car with the big chunks in the rear. The spare tire is at least 50 lbs by itself, and then there's the center console and all the other deletes. Keep in mind that things people don't normally consider weight reduction like the coilovers and bbk (2 piece rotors, aluminum hats) often weigh less than their stock components, and that is part of their performance advantage. I think the car is around 3400 lbs now.
Sure, I would love to attend a meet or something if the local guys want do something like that- I haven't met any of them yet so we should try and put something together. Know what part of town you are visiting?

I posted a new thread in the regional forum for TX, so let's move the conversation over there: https://mbworld.org/forums/texas/441...ml#post5127899

Sounds good Jeff, I think you mentioned awhile back that you know some of the other local guys. Let's set up a meet for the time Kev is visiting.

Dyno Day Results
I went ahead and put my car on the dyno at Eurocharged's Open House event, and had Jerry tune the car since it appeared someone erased my renntech tune.
The graph shows some pretty big jumps if you look at the largest deltas (~40 units), but I say an average of 15 HP and 20 TQ is still pretty good. Looks like I put down just under 350 RWHP to the road, which if you account for the "heartbreaker" dyno dynamics difference of let's say 15%, is right at 400 RWHP.
According to this calculator
That would be 434 HP at the crank on the heartbreaker or 494 HP at the crank if measured on another dyno. That's a big delta, but even so I believe I am right where I thought I was at the beginning of this thread (I estimated 425-450 HP at the crank given a stock CLK550 was rated at 385 HP).

CLK 63 amg
How shall I put this - without insulting any BS owners...
I really like your (cars) bodywork - it is just spot on - in between standard CLK and BS without being too much!

BS Comparison!
My understanding is that it's not a "renntech widebody" as Renntech had nothing to do with the bodywork- it's a custom, one-off job from what the build records indicate.
I like them both- the CLK63 BS is my favorite factory mercedes ever! I love the big bubbly fenders, aggressive fascia, and extra width but for DD duty I think mine serves very well. After the eurocharged tune, my combined MPG increased 1mpg, to 20mpg, as well so that's all good too.
Anyways, I had the rare opportunity to get some direct comparison photos at yesterday's cars and coffee (a flurry new black series owners in the past month here):
