I think I skipped over when I took my Volks apart and reassembled them. That was a cool DIY project I invented to reduce the offsets. 😉

Did you change the offset by putting spacers/shims between the spoke and wheel assembly, under the connect bolts? Did you require a rebalance afterwards?

Yeah I came up with a few ideas but ended up with that. First idea was to make a billet ring with the spoke bolt pattern but that was costly and heavy. I ended up getting stout machined aluminum spacers (steel was surprisingly heavy and added 2lbs/wheel), using a drill press on all 80 of them, ordering longer high strength specialty wheel bolts and nuts (that size bolt is apparently exclusive to wheels, M7 or M8 IIRC), and reassembling with locktite and proper torque spec. It was a lot of work but I'm not a stance guy at all. Why would you not rebalance afterwards?

Well, it's a nice job..... Now you're a stance guy.
I guess what I should have asked regarding the "rebalance" was did it require a dynamic rebalance, where the wheel is balanced while on the car, or if the standard wheel balance was sufficient.

Maybe I'm a functional stance guy. 😉. I put a camber kit on for 2 degrees of camber in the rear, my tires still fit my wheels correctly, and my wheels don't poke out of the body.
A regular balance would be ok but road force balance is preferable in all cases. I am not aware of any balance methods while the wheel is on the car...

49k mile update
Just turned 49k miles on the car. In February 2014 I was at 40k miles so I guess I only drive it about 6k miles a year which is about how long my rear tires last given how I drive LOL.
Speaking of tires, I finally put on a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the gold Volks. I wanted to go wider than my 245/275 setup again so I tested the waters and got 255/35/19 and 295/30/19 this time. They were too aggressive with these offsets so I had my fenders professionally rolled and pulled which is a luxury of having proper custom metal bodywork and not some fiberglass widebody kit. They are pulled about another inch outwards now!
Before pulling, too close for comfort.
After pulling, rear tires looking properly meaty.
I also bought the CLK63 bi xenon style headlights since they grew on me (many people didn't prefer the halogen style) so I am going to install those and do some paintwork to fix rock chips and such. Time for a 4-5 year refresh!

Little maintenance update for anyone following:
Battery replacement with 900CCA Everstart Maxx (5 year warranty).
I removed and reinstalled the rear suspension with new OEM 25mm spring pad and KW perches (DIY). I wanted to raise the rear slightly to relieve rubbing when under load (passengers or throttle squat). I found the spring pad was missing as well so when I replaced it the ride improved noticeably.

Haha thanks guys. I am kicking myself for not doing this suspension fix earlier. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. "Pros" told me I had a spring pad installed, but turns out that wasn't true since I was in there to replace the seized perches and disassembled everything. Luckily I had bought new replacements anyway and wow, what a difference in ride quality. The KW dampers really shine now, and I have them adjusted to two clicks from full stiff (which is about 1/4-1/2 on the V3). They always soaked up the larger stuff but the feedback for the little imperfections is much improved and much less harsh. This is kind of what I always expected since I switched to KW after buying the V3 for the NSX. It's no wonder KW typically uses the oem top mounts and not billet mounts (besides TUV reqs). Excited about driving this car again and dialing it all in together! The process of adjustment and refinement over time is definitely the road to perfection. I'm going to lower it back down, since I raised the perch and added the spring pad, and get an alignment then move on to the paint stuff and new headlights once they finish the new road construction here. More updates to come.

Pros? LOL. the only pros are here on the forums. I love going to a Shop and having them say Blah blah blah is broken or needs repair and i just laugh at them.
only reason i need to go to a shop from time to time is if something needs a lift or air tools.

Meant to say "pros" 😇. Fixed it. And yes, nobody cares about your car like you do. I couldn't even get someone to want to work on it without giving me a dreadful face and the high price of reluctantly doing work. I had to do it with jacks and Jack stands and hand tools because I couldn't get my impact in there due to the exhaust piping.
Got the car dropped back down... But thinking of raising it slightly again.

I raised the car again some at the rear since I always have things in the trunk which lower it anyway and so adult size passengers can ride in the back. Love the way it rides now, oem like ride quality with enhanced performance. Anyway, I am getting the car ready for the paint shop and taking the opportunity to repolish the Volk wheels at the same time. I got some temp wheels on in the meantime... You guys might remember them from my earlier photoshop! I think the volks look better on the car but this will let me scratch that hamann itch I had. They are m3 fitment but I used custom machined 20mm thick 6061 spacer adapters with ARP studs to make them work for my car.

I've got way too many wheels, probably 20(!) sets, mostly for the NSX. I just bought an S2000 so I can share wheels between the two, haha. The wheels the CLK came with are in storage with the rest of them. It's hard to live with extreme low profile tires on a daily vehicle so I removed them in favor of the 19s. The city just put in a new road though so I might be able to run them more successfully now.

Well it's been awhile since my last update so thought I'd share a new pic. Going to the paint shop has been stalled since I have two other cars down right now so I temporarily switched my Michelin PSS tires onto these Wald Streifen S13 wheels I had always wanted to use on the SL55 (I'll throw up a pic of why).
These are 19x9/19x10 so they are 1/2" short on the Volks but the tires are still within the approved wheel width range. I could have used a 1/2"-1" spacer in the rear but would need longer bolts. I have always liked these wheels since they are old school forged Japanese made and look like factory style AMG wheels but with the added flair of multi piece construction and deep VIP style lips.
Oh and I raised the front ride height up 15mm too so it doesn't have as much rake from when I added the rubber spring pad in the rear.
