Before i start, this forum rocks. Every time i have a Q about my car i come here and there is always someone that answers it, MBworld FTW.

Ok, so i have HIDextra.com HID's in my fogs currently. Since they 1 they didn't really fit properly, not sure if the installer messed it up or what, but i got the correct bulbs but they don't fit well, on top of that, every time i drive with my FOG's on and leave them on for more than 30 minutes the fog-light glass gets REALLY hot. The fog bulb comes really close to the glass and i'm worried it's gonna cause some kind of problem.

My Q is: is anyone else running HID's in the fogs? I think it's a bit of a overkill to be honest, but i want something that'll match my 6000k Xenon's, anyone know of a good LED bulb that'll match and have good light output?

Thanks in advance, i'll bump the thread with pictures of the fog

HID's shouldn't get that hot, ut I guess they are stuiill 35W as opposed to 55W halogens. I did LED's:

LED DRL project

I run HID fogs. i have never felt the glass after running them but i dont think they run that hot. i'll try it next time i use the car and feel the glass afterwards. its overkill but i love my 3000k fogs. got the jdm look at night...some detest it though.

i would do the LED DRL if you want to try something different.

Answers..........NO, it not plug-n-play(no bulb holder/bracket). If you want it bad enough, you can make it work, I did. The bulb seem to be a little bit longer then other depending on the color rating. I have both, mine 6000K seem to be just little bit longer then mine 8000K but I were able to fix that issue too. I guess some of us are more creative then other. You can search my post that can help you to design/create the bulb holder/bracket from your original holder. As for the adjustment of the bulb, I used the orignal o-ring from the oem bulb holder/bracket to space out the HIDextra bulb so it won't touch the len.

I think MTEC makes the proper bulb for the facelift fog lights.

How about a link to the exact HID set you chose? I have heard a lot of info from "buy the $79.95 set plus a $40 "error canceling setup" to only get the $120 "Error Free" sets, to MTEC @ $300 is the only way to go.

What did you decide?

Btw, look what I have to do to installed the 8000K DS2 and city light on mine Slk55. What a stupid design with no space under the hood.

No, I am using the HID Extra kit, I have aftermarket projector fogs that take the 9006 bulb and HID Extra makes the correct conversion kit for it.

I read on a few forums that the MTEC bulbs fit like OEM on the newer round fogs but they are halogen/xenon, not HID.
