Anyone can help me identify this pulley?

This is making a whining noise lately and makes my car sound like old junk lol.

I am getting it replaced but i wanted to know what role it plays so i can estimate how much it would cost me.

That look to me like a belt tensioner because the way the belt wrap around it. Are you sure that's where the noise came from. Try spray WD-40 on all the belt to see if the noise go away.

Hey Klinh,

i did spray some WD 40 on it(the tensioner) before and the noise does go away until the liquid evaporates and the noise is back on.

Is that part expensive on top of your head?

That’s a “sheave” pulley, PN 272-202-1419.

~$50

I just look at parts.com. The belt tensioner on a 2005 Clk500 is MSRP- $230 and parts.com selling for $165.

Is "sheave" mean "guide" pulley?

Replaced mine in less than 30 minutes, along with fitting a fresh belt.
Any honest technician wouldn’t charge more than an hour.

FWIW, my mom had her M272’s replaced gratis under MBUSA Service Campaign #2008070002.

edit: tensioner is below and to port of your sheave/guide pulley.
