Tire size on a 18" wheel

I read the tire/wheel thread and couldnt find a definitive answer on this..

What is the correct size of tire for 7.5F/8.5R 18" wheels?

I have seen both [225/40 F 255/35 R] and [235/40 F 265/35 R] combinations listed as correct sizes.

I understand the wider tires will need to be "stretched" more.

What does the brain trust say?

I would say 235/40 F 265/35 R, 19's would be (as I have) one series down, 35/30.

Thanks for the reply Kev..

Still looking for some more opinions on this.

It seems the bigger the wheel diameter, the easier it is to get away with wider tires in relation to the natural width of the wheel.

The 225/255 would be the sizes for 7.5 and 8.5 rims

And the 235/265 are for rims sizes 8.5 and 9.5

40 and 35 series are correct
