CLK500 Cold Start Idle Speed Adjust?

Can the cold start idle speed be lowered on the 500? Awful lot of noise (whining) from the engine compartment at 1200 rpm until it slows. Only lasts maybe 20 seconds, but it sounds cheesy.

Also, what's your idle rpm in gear? I'm 700+, which makes it creep right along.

I think that's the air pump that you're heard.

The high idle & excess air pump are all for emissions & fast Cat warm up. Nothing you can do about it. It is programmed into the ECU.

The ML430 I owned was crazy loud for the first 30 seconds or so until the pump cycled through. In gear idle about the same, maybe a little less.

Thank you all for your responses. Rather expected that, but just hoping. I've heard other MBZ of other classes making similar noises. C'est la vie.
Still sounds cheesy.

Well, heck.
Hey, I'll bet some 'exhaust repairs' would make it less noticeable!
