2009 CLK350 Convertible
First overnight road trip in the CLK less than a month after purchasing - Took the car to San Francisco and back to LA.
Did the Southbound run in the afternoon/evening after a stop at our office in Portola Valley - blasting along at 80-ish the entire way. Hit the Grapevine after dusk @ 1/2 hour after a fuel stop - Suddenly gauges light up telling me I was in reserves! Dropped into the slow lane, trying to figure out what to do/how did i lose so much fuel so quickly when I hit a relatively level section and the gauges went back to normal - Whew!
Coming to the summit, it was getting cold & foggy - pulled into a rest area, put the top up and switched from Auto Headlamps to Manual so I could use the fogs. Cruised the rest if the way into Hollywood, pulled into the garage close to 10PM after the long day, unloaded luggage, upstairs and to bed...
Around 1AM, there's a knock at the door - Throw on a bathrobe and there's the little old lady in the building asking if I'm the owner of the red Mercedes? And are the lights supposed to be flashing off and on? Uh oh...
Grab keys and wander down to the garage where my new baby is wearily flashing her lights begging for attention, Her battery so discharged that the Smartkey won't unlock the doors. Finally get the door open and realize that I've left the lights on: I had become so accustomed to running AutoLamps/DRLs/delayed lighting off and was so tired that I didn't notice the warning chimes.
The next AM I called 1-800-HelpMeMercedes, and they sent someone right out to save me - Let's hope that's as dumb as it gets...

You do realize that the cover locks with the door locks, right? I think that is "less cheap" than most cars which require a separate lock button to be activated. Whenever I go to refuel my wife's Jeep GC, I always forget to press the button, then I have to go back into the cabin and do it. THat's "cheap".
