Is this same class action suit against Mercedes as the Case No 12-cv-05493 (TEH)?
thank you. I may have asked before, but nothing but run around at this new stealership. really don't know why I still have this car. But i keep dumping $ in and I then think I should use longer. only to have to dump in more. Maybe i will wise up and get rid of it soon. I just keep thinking i have replaced nearly everything on it and now it will probably last another 10 years!
UGH!

As for the class action, there is a new filing in California that has reached a settlement. For those who already paid out of pocket for the repair, you'll get some relief. For those driving cars in the potential range, but with no symptoms, there's not much good news if it fails "now". They will pay 70% for cars within 8 years (from original delivery date) or 80K miles. Then 37.5% for those within 10 years or 125K miles. Since most MY2006 cars are now reaching the 10-year mark from deliver, there won't be much coverage. And there will likely be no cars on the road now that fall in the 8-year range (the problem was resolved in mid-MY2007 build, that was in calendar year 2006, 9 years ago).

The SL500 has the M113 engine - no worries there.

Since the problem was identified and rectified halfway through that model year build, you have to check the engine serial number. This can be looked up in EPC with the VIN. If you are considering a particular car, post the VIN here and I (or others with EPC access) will look up the engine serial number and let you know. Note that the engine serial number just tells us that it's either in or not in the range for "potential" failure. A small percentage of those have, so far, actually failed. My advice is when looking to buy, avoid those "in the range" since the repair cost is high. It's sort of like if you sat at the Black Jack table and had all the normal odds for winning or losing, but if you say, drew two aces, you'd not only lose the hand, but lose $5K more.

I just bought this C350 and according to carfax report Camshaft adjuster solenoid was replaced at 95k. Is it something related with this problem? The car now has 112k . what are symptoms for balance shaft issues?
Thank you
