AIRBOX UPGRADE

Hello people, I need some help with deciding on an upgrade....would an airbox off a S55 fit my clk500 ? what kind of an airbox can I use that would be a direct bolt on or little alteration ? I'm looking for a OEM if possible.

Thanx !!!

Get the E55K airbox, pretty much a direct fit & OEM finish.

I hear there are some gains to be had by fitting an E55k airbox? minimal, but gains nonetheless.

Also, aren't the V8 engines all the same in all classes...C, E, S, CLK, etc....? if that's so, shouldn't the air boxes fit from any of them ?

Again if I ask dumb questions bare with me because I just picked up my CLK last month and I'm trying to learn whatever I can about it

The 55K air boxes (like mine) are made to fit cars with an OEM (or aftermarket, like my Kleemann) kompressor/supercharger, the air filter housing volume is lager than stock and they have a separate Y pipe (to the TB) which improves airflow. The 55 air boxes (like Andy's) cover & mount to the engine in the same fashion as the stock 500 unit does but they have a larger air filter housing volume.

Here is another picture so you can see the Y pipe better;

Thanks for the compliment as well, I take a lot of pride keeping that engine bay clean, tough to do here especially with a vented hood but always worth the effort.

Good luck.

Andy, yours looks awesome pal, I remember being jealous of your airbox before I got my s/c, then I had to use the 55K.

A lot of the airbox questions were asked and answered in this thread.. I suggest a thorough read through before making any decision

https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...-airbox-5.html

There are some minor things that need to be done for the e55 to fit. For example you need to reverse the Y-pipe (counter intuitive if you aren't prepared). Also notice you will need to do a minor modification to the cover for it to fit around the oil cap (I dremeled mine out).

Good luck!

I know it's an old thread, but does anyone know if the C/CLK55 N/A airbox will fit a M113 CL500. I don't see any reason it should not. I'd go with an 55K one but don't like the manifold being all exposed (since no supercharger) and don't want to deal with the y-pipe fit over the MAF as it requires some modifying. Looking for a nice clean setup thanks. M-benz and kevwood, amazing looking intake setups

Is there any difference between the 03, 04 CLK55 airbox versus the 05, 06 C55, CLK55 one?
