Question 2 questions ...

I currently have a stock MY2003 clk55 ... I'm needing to replace my front bumper and I was wondering if its worth it to upgrade to the CLK63 bumper while I'm at it? whats the cost involved?

I'm also contemplating lowering the car an inch or two but plan to keep my stock 17's and was wondering if it would look weird with that wheel size?

your input is appreciated ... thx!

IF YOU REALLY NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT BAR. if you have extra cash, go the extra mile and do the 63 conversion. im not sure what it would cost you there but for a few hundreds more, now will be the best time to do it! it will give your car a more modern look and you will love it!

now with the lowering, i replied on the other thread as well. its all up to you. some would suggest to get wheels first then lower it so you can see how much drop you need. some would say lower it now and if you're not happy with how the wheels look get new ones. the first advice is more sensible but if youre worried about the cost or want to keep your OEM wheels, go with the latter. IMO, a car looks better if it sits a bit lower to the ground, not to mention better road handling. but its just me.

On the https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...nt-thread.html I posted some pics with my 17s dropped using H&R springs and Vogtland springs to give you a reference.

It was so many changes ago that I honestly don't remember. I was speaking to a member here who recently dropped his 209 on H&R springs and he had the same concerns. He ended up loving the ride and he had 19s.

When I lowered mine (at 24K miles) I could not tell any difference in the ride. When first lowered (H&R) I kept the OEM shocks and struts. I ran them for about 4 years before having to replace them at 64K miles (40K miles of use on lowered car). At about 40K miles I installed H&R sways. Firm is good . Although I probably could have kept the OE shocks for another 10K miles (but I don't mine that).

When first lowered I was running stock AMG 18" wheels. Now running 18" Mandrus wheels.
