2005 German CLK 320

Hello everyone,

I sold my 2003 CLK 320 in Canada about 2 months ago and I am currently in Lebanon on vacation and I'll be relocating here in September as I have taken up a job here.

I am in the market for another CLK since I did not have enough of the one I had in Canada and I am currently looking at 2005 CLKs since they have the updated looks and interior. I do not want to get into the 2006+ 350s because of the balance shaft issue and the 722.9 troubles.

The best car I have found so far is a 2005 CLK 320 German-spec with 47,000 km on it. The service manual shows all mileage and stamps from a Mercedes Dealership in Germany.

The car has every option you can think of for a 2005 I believe: M mode with shifters in the steering wheel, multicountour seats, front and rear sensors, Distronic, heated seats, Xenon lights, NAV, etc...

I wanted to know what I should be looking for in a 2005 in terms of things that break/need repair. I got very familiar with all the issues that could happen with my 03 CLK back in Canada from online research and forums.

For example, do conductor plates still fail on 2005 CLKs with 722.6 or was that the final golden year for the transmission? My 03 CLK320 needed a new conductor plate at 74,000 km.

Please let me know what you know about 05 CLK320s and any other information will be greatly appreciated.

The asking price for the car is $19.5K.

Thank you!

That should be a very reliable car - the 722.6 transmission is car more reliable than the 722.9, and no "balance shaft" issues on the M112 engine.

Do the conductor plates fail on 2005 722.6 transmissions or was the part updated/improved by then?

Of course they can, but it is much more rare on later versions.
