Question 2003 CLK 320 side mirror turn signal.

I went out the other morning, and noticed the entire led turn signal was gone on the passenger side. I ordered the new part, but I'm having trouble with how to put the new one in. I have done alot of searching and reading, but still need some help. I found the WIS PDF, but I don't see a clip. I thought it might be on the new part, but it only has a female connection that is plastic. Could I be missing an internal piece that may have been broken when the strip was lost? Any help would be much appreciated.

I think I found what I need, I just dont know where to get it. In the PDF I found for W209 removal/install turn signal lamp, it said you have to adapt outside cover for vehicles produced up until 26.03.04. In the last colum, it has listed AR88.70-P-9100-01Q and BT82.25-P-0100-01Q. I believe these to be the instructions. Can someone point me to where I can get them. Thanks in advance.

2004 CLK320
I drive a 2004 CLK320 and I had to replace my turn blinker on my left side mirror a few months ago.

My indie did it for me. I saw that he had to remove the mirror first and changed the blinker from the inside. He knew what he was doing and the whole procedure took 5 minutes.

Part:. 230-820-07-21

Question

Thanks for the information. From what I've gathered is that the early w209's had a clip and the later have a screw. I know I'm going to have to modify mine, but I don't know how. I haven't seen anywhere that details where to make a screw hole or what size of screw to use. Anyone have anymore information.

I will be surprised if there is a difference in this turn blinker between a 2003 w209 and a 2004 w209.

I checked the part number in oediscountparts.com. The same part applies to both 2003 and 2004 CLK320.

I have to replace my side mirror blinker lamp and encountered this exact discrepancy. I bought a new blinker lamp from the dealership and there was no clip. I tried to use the clip of the old lamp and it did not hold the new lamp well. What I did was to bend the clip from the inside and while it is holding in place, it is not too tight. I called the dealership and they told me that the clip was no longer available.

According to this old thread, there is now a screw to hold the lamp in place? How does it work? The new lamp does not come with a screw hole and there is no hole in the side mirror housing! Am I supposed to drill a hole?

This is so strange because the parts numbers are the same and the new and old parts looked exactly the same.

I went to the dealership again and asked about the clip/screw. A technician checked for me and while he did confirm from the computer about the screw, he had no idea how to install it and where to drill a hole for the screw.

I then went to my indie the next day and he did not know about the screw as well. He called his contact in MB and the response was "no more clip, have to put in a screw". My indie tried to use the same clip from the old blinker lamp but it was broken probably because I bent it back-and-forth too many times. He finally had to put in a screw. The work involved taking the whole side mirror apart, drilled a hole, put in a screw and aligned it to the small plastic cylinder besides the clip and finally the blinker lamp is now secured.

I wonder why MB would do this since the clip did work well for many years. This is a lot of work to change out a blinker lamp!
