clk brake pad wear sensors
Do you guys know how many brake pad wear sensors a 2004 clk320 has? I tried to search but cant find anything. Went to auto zone and they didnt know either. I found a kit of front and rear brake pads and rotors with 2 sensors.(one for front and one for rear). Not sure if its the right kit, Thanks for your time

2004 clk500 & 2004 bmw 325ci
also most sensor that come with the pads have a round sensor plug, i had to use the old sensor, cause its oval shape. also make sure you change the pins if it's rusted.

There are two type of sensors - the single wire and the two-wire. The single wire senses pad wear when it contacts ground (the rotor). The two-wire sensor is a complete circuit. When it contacts the rotor, it grounds out and will trigger the message, but also, if it breaks the circuit, it triggers the message and then must be replaced. If your pad doesn't have a hole for the sensor, or if the pad's hole is too small, simple use a drill on the pad to make a hole or a larger hole as needed.

If the sensor is too large to fit in the hole in the brake pad, just enlarge the hole. You can do this with a drill bit. You probably won't even need a drill motor - just twist the bit by hand to enlarge the existing hole.

I have a 2004 MB CLK320 with 99500 miles. Because I got the "Brake Wear" message, I found that the rear sensor had made contact with the rotor due to the pads being worn out. I just replaced the front rotors, front pads, rear pads and both front and rear wear sensors.
Interestingly, the front brake wear sensor is located in the right brake pad on my car, as well as the rear brake sensor. I mention this because the operations manual and all information I found states that the front sensor is in the left brake pad and the rear in the right brake pad.

I bought my brake parts from www.benzpartsforless.com
After entering the year and model of your car, you can select the brake parts you need from the front or the rear suspension sections.
However, there are other excellent sources available. One that I discovered recently is www.pelicanparts.com
I hope this helps.
