I have searched this extensively and found that the nut on the window regulator was missing. I replaced it with a M6 lock nut and tightened. The window rattle is decreased but still there when the window is up. However, with the window down its so loud upon closing that it almost sounds like the glass is going to break.

Any suggestions? Thanks! I still need to post pics of my new to me 2004 CLK500 coupe 1 owner with 28k miles. Love this little torque monster!

Check to make sure the glass is tight in the vertical channels. Sometimes when the regulator attachment breaks, the glass slips out of place.
